Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Apr 19, 2021

It was an exciting week as the Faith & Liberty team and Liberty Counsel's Senior Counsel for Governmental Affairs Jonathan Alexandre met new and a few current members of Congress at the New Members of Congress 2021 Reception. Several speakers, including Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) and business leader Anne Beiler, encouraged and challenged us.

"God has called us here to Washington, D.C.," Sen. Lankford said. "We need to reflect and search to what our calling has been and act upon it."

Anne Beiler, founder of Auntie Anne's, summed up the evening with a keynote speech. "Business is not about money, fame, or power, but about the people," she said. "Focus on the people who work for you each day and truly invest in them. Life is hard, but God is good. Don't confuse the two!"

Our Ministry Center, which is directly behind the Supreme Court, has been in service for the last 30 years and continues to serve our members of Congress, their staff and those in the administration. Our team helps mentor those new to Capitol Hill and gives spiritual support and guidance. We continue to be available to those who need prayer.

Thank you for holding us up before the Lord as we seek to serve in our nation's capital.

Blessings in Christ,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

THE MONDAY RECAP

  • Peggy Nienaber participated in the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom's virtual hearing on global efforts to combat anti-Semitism. Participants discussed ideas for how the government can further encourage members to fulfill their obligations to the Jewish community.
  • Peggy Nienaber met with the Aglow International Prayer Team last week. The ladies prayed for a spiritual awakening in the nation's capital. The team prayed for the new Bible study beginning next month and that the current activities at the Ministry Center will strengthen and give wisdom to the staffers seeking God's Word and presence.
  • Faith & Liberty hosted King's Church DC's Waffle and Prayer Breakfast.
  • Weekly Bible studies continue for the staff who work on Capitol Hill.

COMING THIS WEEK

  • Peggy Nienaber has scheduled prayer time with members and staffers.
  • Faith & Liberty's staff continues to participate in the International Religious Freedom Roundtable.
  • Preparations continue for the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon at the Capitol, Daybreak Prayer at the Supreme Court and the Rooftop Prayer National Encounter on a rooftop overlooking Washington. Just as Peter went up on a rooftop to pray in Acts 10, we are going to a rooftop on Tuesday, May 4, to encounter God, repent, surrender, and seek Him for a fresh vision for those who are spiritually lost. We will be broadcasting live from the rooftop.
  • Peggy Nienaber will participate in the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) virtual conference call Wednesday afternoon as the USCIRF members release the 2021 Annual Report: Key Findings and Recommendations highlighting countries of concern.

Our prophetic missionary work in Washington, D.C., continues during this critical time in history. CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR PRAYER REQUEST.

We must all stay tuned in to what's happening in our nation's capital. To stay informed on issues in Washington (e.g., "For the People Act," "Equality Act") and play your part as a citizen and a Christian, look for the Faith & Liberty ACTION emails throughout the week.

PRAYER CONCERNS

Pray for those whose work in the congressional offices. With a limited number of staff on hand, their jobs can be overwhelming.

Join with us as we intercede for the new Bible study for staffers beginning in May.

Most of all, pray for a spiritual awakening in the hearts of the leaders of this nation, that the United States would shine as a beacon of light in a spiritually dark world.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
