Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

May 10, 2021

It has been an amazing week of ministry here in Washington, D.C., as we hosted the 32nd Annual Bible Reading Marathon and engaged in numerous other outreaches to our nation’s public policy makers.

In fact, on several occasions, all three floors of the Ministry Center were alive with activity as different programs were all happening at the same time. Thank you for your prayers and ongoing support of this prophetic missionary outreach to all three branches of government in Washington.

Blessings in Christ,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice President

THE MONDAY RECAP

  • The 32nd Annual Bible Reading Marathon began with opening ceremonies last Saturday afternoon, May 1, and continued 24 hours a day until Wednesday morning, May 5. During that time the Word of God was read from Genesis to Revelation both live at the Ministry Center and virtually from across the country. People from around the world participated in reading the Scriptures in a variety of languages. We also had members of Congress join us in reading the Word aloud.
  • We participated in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 6. We were grateful for the opportunity to exalt and glorify our God on the Supreme Court plaza. In addition, we gathered with several Christian leaders in prayer in front of the fence surrounding the Capitol building. While there, police approached us requesting that we leave and also delete any photos we had taken. They even brought along a paddy wagon with a German Shepherd to ensure our departure. We left peacefully at the conclusion of our prayer time and we did not delete our photos. Previously we had tried to get a permit to pray on Capitol Hill grounds, as we do every year, but our request was denied.
  • Your Faith & Liberty missionary team joined with pastors and Christian leaders from across the nation on Tuesday, May 4, for the annual Rooftop Prayer Encounter. There, looking over the majestic scenery of the U.S. Capitol complex, we fervently sought the Lord on behalf of our nation and its leaders.
  • We also had the opportunity to meet personally with Yogananda Pittman, the new, acting chief of police for the U.S. Capitol Police. We prayed with Acting Chief Pittman and presented her with beautiful certificates in honor of the two Capitol Hill police officers, William Evans and Brian Sicknick, who lost their lives in the line of duty in recent days. She was very appreciative of our visit, and we look forward to working with her in the days ahead.
  • As a side note, how sad that for the first time since 1953, the presidential proclamation for the National Day of Prayer completely left out any reference to God. The proclamation from the Biden administration did not even mention the word “God.”
  • We’ve added another Bible study for Capitol Hill staff members, which started today.
  • The Faith & Liberty team also continues our regular prayer meetings, women’s meetings and men’s meetings as outreaches to all three branches of the U.S. government.

COMING THIS WEEK

  • Our fifth Bible study with Capitol Hill staffers started today.
  • We have prayer breakfasts Saturday for the women’s and men’s groups.
  • Peggy Nienaber continues her participation with the International Religious Freedom Summit meetings.
  • We’ll be recording an episode of the Freedom Alive! television program with Faith & Liberty Chairman Mat Staver.

PRAYER

Let’s continue to unite in prayer against two bills that, if signed into law, will unleash greater darkness in America and affect all of our lives. They are the misnamed “Equality Act and HR 1 (S 1), which will federalize and legalize election fraud.

Pray with us as members of the Faith & Liberty team will participate in the Values Action Team Summit with several congressional leaders to discuss how to further advance a culture of life, defense of the family and religious freedom in the midst of a hostile administration.

Our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
