Faith & Liberty's team is preparing to begin the new year. The newly elected Members will be sworn into office January 3, 2021. Our team has been reaching out to these newly elected Members and their staff to get to know them, including inviting them to schedule prayer time with us. This past week, we virtually met with Congressman Randy Feenstra (IA), and Scott Franklin (FL) and Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (TX) to talk about their interests in various committees and policies.
Capitol Hill undergoes many changes during an election year. These times of transition can be hard on staffers. When dramatic changes take place, and staffers experience a lot of uncertainty, our team is needed more than ever. Please pray for these opportunities of ministry.
It is through your generosity that we are able to be present on Capitol Hill to minister to our nation’s leaders and their staff. And right now, because of a Year-End Challenge Grant, the impact of your gift will be DOUBLED. To make a year-end contribution to Faith & Liberty, click HERE.
I pray blessings over you and your family as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas,
Peggy Nienaber, Vice President
"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." Luke 2:10
THE MONDAY RECAP
Here are just a few of our other activities over the last few days:
- Peggy Nienaber participated in more virtual meet and greets with newly elected Republican members of Congress to discuss their interests and priorities for 2021.
- Patty Bills participated in a White House National Faith Leaders Call to hear about the Administration's ongoing efforts to protect religious liberty.
- Peggy Nienaber participated in a zoom call with Congessman John Moolenaar (R-MI) to discuss ministering to staff every day and growing relationships on Capitol Hill.
- Peggy Nienaber participated in a discussion with The Honorable Newt Gingrich to discuss the gains in the House and Senate. Discussions continued about what to look forward to in the coming year and what we as Christians can do to be more productive.
- Small groups continue throughout the week at the Ministry Center.
UPCOMING THIS WEEK
- Preparations have begun for the Remembering the Preborn — Flowers & Prayer Vigil on January 22, 2021 in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.
- We are scheduling 2021 small groups and weekly Bible studies and preparing invites for NEW Members and staffers.
There is so much happening in our nation’s capital that demands our attention and immediate response. Look for our ACTION emails coming up this week.
PRAYER
As the legal process for the contested election continues, pray for truth to be revealed and for our nation's leaders to have wisdom and guidance.
January is Sanctity of Human Life month. Pray for the Faith & Liberty team as we prepare for various events on Capitol Hill that shine a light on the infinite value of every life and the enormity of the loss of life since Roe v. Wade (1973).
As we end one year and begin another, continue to pray for ministry opportunities. This time of transition on Capitol Hill can be particularly hard on staffers. And with the difficulties of 2020, struggling people are looking for hope even more. Pray that hearts would be softened, and eyes opened to the reason for the season—Jesus Christ!
All of our efforts to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our public policy makers are only possible because wonderful friends like you stand with us both in prayer and in your generous financial support! Again, thank you!
God bless you!
