Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

The Faith & Liberty Monday Report

Aug 3, 2020

Faith & Liberty is making an impact on Capitol Hill! An important part of bringing the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our national leaders is building relationships. And that is exactly what we do every day. Our mission hasn’t changed. We are deeply invested in the lives of each individual on the Hill, from members of the Judiciary, to members of Congress and their staff, to those in the executive branch. We are daily building relationships and are often invited into high level meetings on Capitol Hill to pray, minister, and dialogue about current issues of concern to the faith community.

Of course, you make all of this possible by partnering with us. Thank you for your support.

And, thank you for making a difference!

-Peggy Nienaber, Vice-President

The F&L Monday Recap

Even though the Capitol appears locked down, last week was a busy one for your missionary team at Faith & Liberty!

  • During the House Judiciary Committee meetings, we were praying outside of the congressional buildings.
  • We hosted a Monday Bible Study for congressional staffers. We are currently studying Hebrews Chapter 10 and the importance of fellowship with others.
  • We welcomed Aglow International, a group of men and women who are prayer warriors. We prayed for our capital, leaders and all those on Capitol Hill. The Aglow Members also prayed for the F&L team, which was greatly appreciated.
  • I was invited to participate in an online conference with Pastor Paula White and her husband Jonathan Cain. We joined in praise and worship with White House staff members and prayed for our President and Vice President.
  • We interrupted our Monday Bible study and went outside to witness the procession for Congressman John Lewis and pay our respects as they drove right by the ministry center. This offered us an opportunity to pray for the late congressman and his family.

Upcoming this week

We have completed our planning for the U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon. Since we had to delay the Marathon to September as a result of the COVID restrictions, the House is now busily engaged in the upcoming Presidential Inauguration preparations. As a result, we were not able to get the needed permits to host the event on Capitol grounds. This is, however, an excellent opportunity as we will now host the Bible Reading Marathon at our ministry center – right across the street from the United States Supreme Court. We are excited and look forward to this powerful event. We are still in need of virtual readers, so if you would like to join us and participate please sign up online, under Faith & Liberty EVENTS. The 2020 US Capitol Bible Reading Marathon is September 12th - September 19th.

We have several study and group meetings we are participating in this week as well as a Bible Study with other leaders across Capitol Hill. Although, because of the confidential nature of some of our meetings, we can’t always write about all our activities, be assured our presence on Capitol Hill is expanding. Frequently we are asked to pray before meetings and we always make ourselves available to pray for others when they are in need.

Look for our emails later this week on the issue of Big Tech censoring truth. Recent censorship of information should chill every American and we must take a stand against it.

Prayer

Please say a prayer for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as her cancer has returned and her health declines. Pray that she knows the Lord—please pray this for all of our Justices, congressmen, congresswomen and staffers as well as all of those in the Executive Branch. Our fervent prayer is vital during these critical times.

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. --2 Peter 3:9

Please keep us in prayer as well as we develop and strengthen our relationships with so many of our public policy makers. We are making a difference as your missionaries on Capitol Hill and you are an intricate part of our success.

Thank you!

Make a difference and partner with us.
