Churches Needed More Than Ever Now

Jun 4, 2020

The Faith & Liberty team praying for our nation

Today we gathered at the 10 Commandments display in front of our National Ministry Center to pray for America and for our churches across the nation. Our nation needs prayer!

At this moment, governors, mayors, local officials and even presidential hopefuls are encouraging and approving the "protests" that are rocking our nation. Peaceful protests are important, but violence is unacceptable. Violence only begets violence. Yet, many of the same leaders who say nothing against gathering in large "protest" crowds continue to force illegal and unreasonable restrictions on churches and houses of worship.

Free Our Churches!

  • In Maine, Gov. Janet Mills continues to insist that no more than 50 people may worship together at one time – even if the service is held in a 5,000-seat auditorium, or a 5-acre church parking lot. And this number was raised from zero to 50 only last Friday. Meanwhile, thousands of protestors flooded the streets of Portland, ME, this week with only 23 of the most violent offenders arrested or cited. But Calvary Church of Bangor, along with all other Maine churches, remains under tight restrictions.
  • In Virginia, Gov. Ralph Northam continues to decree that churches may only operate at limited capacity, yet many large cities in the Old Dominion have seen their streets filled with thousands of protestors. As in Maine, only the most violent of protestors have been arrested. Yet, Lighthouse Fellowship Church is only allowed to have 10 people assemble. And the pastor continues to face criminal charges for holding a 16-person church service in a 293-seat sanctuary on Palm Sunday.
  • In Illinois, Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Chicago, where government officials recently threatened "Summary Abatement" and the possibility of bulldozing the church buildings of Elim Romanian Pentecostal Church and Logos Baptist Ministries, chaos rains. Store windows have been smashed, cars set on fire, 84 people shot and 23 died in the deadliest weekend of violence the Windy City has seen this year. And the "Summary Abatement" threat against our churches has not been removed.

The Satanic spirit of division is oppressing churches and dividing America.

It is completely duplicitous not to enforce shut down and social distance orders against protestors and rioters, but to enforce those orders upon churchgoers!

Join us in standing for churches!

America cannot repress churches without expecting consequences. And If ever there was a time America needed churches to be open and fervently praying, it is now.

Throughout history, the church has always offered comfort to the masses and congregational prayer in order to make positive change. Yet, in the biggest health scare in a century and one of the biggest economic crashes in history, governors and local officials illegally and unconstitutionally closed churches.

Now that health fears have morphed into pain for unspeakable injustice and fears for America's very future, too many of our churches continue to be unconstitutionally restricted or closed – even as our country goes up in flames.

Rarely has there been a more crucially important time for America's churches to be fully and completely open. The body of Christ freely offering peace, hope and Christ's love is the antidote for Satan's spirit of division.

For there is no darkness - not racism, violence or tyranny - that can remain in the overwhelming light of our Lord's love.

The fight in the federal courts to protect religious liberty and the ability of churches to operate unhindered by government edicts continues. With God's blessing and your help, we will continue the fight to fully open America's churches so that His glorious light can shine forth. And we will continue to fight to ensure that NO pastor or churchgoer ever again faces criminal charges for holding or attending church.

Will you help ensure America's churches remain free? Please give generously today, so that the next generation will have a free church, unfettered by government officials.

Stand with the Pastors facing Criminal Charges for holding church!

Finally, please join me in praying for the soul of our nation...

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chron. 7:14
