Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital
Mar 5, 2020
Yesterday, your missionaries at Faith & Liberty stood for LIFE at the United States Supreme Court.
We were there, both inside and outside the Court, for June Medical Services LLC v. Russo, a High Court case that involves the State of Louisiana’s Unsafe Abortion Protection Act, a 2014 law requiring abortion providers to have admitting privileges in a hospital within 30 miles of the abortion facility.

The Unsafe Abortion Protection Act allows a woman to go directly to the hospital if she needs urgent care as a result of a problem during her abortion. While abortionists falsely argue that abortion is safe, kind of like a tonsillectomy, the truth is there’s a long history of substandard medical care at Louisiana abortion clinics, with numerous violations for unclean facilities and unsafe medical conditions.
In fact, as Liberty Counsel’s Senior Counsel for Governmental Affairs, Jonathan Alexandre, put it: “Abortion clinics are often found with blood-spattered walls, blood-crusted equipment, reused 'single-use' supplies, expired medications (if they have any emergency medicine at all), with falsified documents, and some have concealed sexual assault and abuse. The cleanliness standards of some centers are so low they don’t even bother to remove rat poop. Against this backdrop, abortionists repeatedly demonstrate a willful refusal to alert outside medical staff for help—even when the mother’s life is in urgent danger.”
So much for the lie that abortion is women’s health care! At least they could clean up the rat poop!
This is the FIRST Supreme Court case involving the Sanctity of Human Life that includes President Trump’s nominees to the Court, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh. As Faith & Liberty Vice-President, Peggy Nienaber, observed while inside the Court, “Justice Kavanaugh asked serious questions that cut to the heart of the issues!”
But our confidence is ultimately NOT in a justice nor in the Court! Our hope and faith is in the LORD!
That’s why every day we are on Capitol Hill – bringing the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of our nation’s public policy makers regarding the Sanctity of Life, from conception to natural death, the Sanctity of the Family, as God defines the family, and our fundamental right to Religious Liberty.
Of course, our missionary work on Capitol Hill is ONLY possible because faithful friends like you stand with us in prayer and with your financial support.
But we need you to stand with us again! Won’t you take a moment now to make the most generous investment you can in this unique missionary outreach? Please let us hear from you!
Thank you for your prayers and your generosity to Faith & Liberty! We’ll keep you posted on this critical prolife case in the days ahead. May all of God’s richest blessings be yours!
