Melissa Ohden with Peggy Nienaber at Faith & Liberty
She was never supposed to see the light of day. The saline infusion abortion was intended to make sure of that. After emerging into this world, and being set aside, the unexpected sounds of her gasping breaths drew the attention of the attending nurse. Upon realizing the abortion had failed, the nurse determined to save this baby’s life...and save it, she did.
This is the miraculous story of Melissa Ohden. At age 14, Melissa discovered that she is an abortion survivor. At age 30, she obtained the medical records from her birth and discovered she had endured a saline infusion abortion in which she was exposed to a toxic saline solution for five days. The solution should have ended her life but miraculously did not. Thankfully, after being born alive, a merciful nurse intervened on her behalf.

That nurse's act of mercy not only had an impact on Melissa's life, but her children's lives, and all the lives that Melissa has now influenced as a result. In fact, in the very hospital where Melissa's life was intended to end, she gave birth to her first daughter. What an incredible reminder of the intergenerational impact of abortion!
Next Tuesday, the Senate is expected to vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This bill would make medical care mandatory for babies, like Melissa, who survive an abortion.
As our country continues to battle for life and death, every day, 3,000 unborn babies die from abortion. Melissa’s story brings us face to face with the humanity of each one and serves as a reminder that abortion survivors are not "hypothetical."
Join us in speaking up for these survivors by urging the Senate to pass the Born-Alive Act!
It is hard to imagine that it would be acceptable to deny care to these survivors; however, loopholes in current law make it possible. That is why we must speak up now. Especially when we are closer than ever in securing the protection they need.
Faith & Liberty is continually meeting with legislators, challenging them with the absolute truth of the sanctity of human life. And we will be present in the Senate when the Born-Alive Act comes to a vote, to fervently pray and intercede on behalf of the precious innocent babies whose lives are on the line.
Will you stand with us on behalf of LIFE? Let us hear from you today!
