The End of Religious Liberty?

Jun 19, 2019

U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Liberty, Sam Brownback, and Faith & Liberty Vice-President, Peggy Nienaber

Our First Amendment—liberties of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of conscience—are under attack as never before. The rise of treacherous legislation such as HR 5, the so-called "Equality Act," is a direct threat to the freedom of every Christian and every church in America.

Not only is religious freedom under assault in our own nation, every day the headlines are filled with tragic examples of Christians around the world being persecuted and even killed for their faith.

Without freedom of conscience and the right to openly practice our faith in the public square, every other freedom listed in the Bill of Rights is in danger. That's why, since this missionary outreach began 25 years ago, a major focus has always been religious freedom.

Right now, our deep commitment to advance liberty is driving our work to stop the so-called "Equality Act" in the Senate.

If HR 5 becomes law, men who are "confused" about their gender will be allowed to use women's bathrooms, showers, dressing rooms, crisis shelters, and more. Counselors will be prohibited from providing counsel to anyone who seeks to overcome unwanted same-sex attractions, behavior or identity—even if an individual wants to receive that help. Men, pretending to be women (and vice versa), will demand to teach in churches, schools and daycare centers, and churches will be required by law to allow same-sex weddings.

It is not an exaggeration to say that if the "Equality Act" becomes law, it will be the end of religious freedom in America.

We have extraordinary opportunities this summer...

Our commitment to religious liberty is also why Faith & Liberty will be actively engaged in the 2019 Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom this July. This remarkable gathering in Washington, DC, of concerned people from around the world is sponsored by U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Liberty, Sam Brownback, along with the U.S. Senate Department.

Not only will your missionary team at Faith & Liberty be actively involved in the Summit, we will host a number of officials and religious liberty activists for a working breakfast at our Ministry Center.

As we approach this Fourth of July and the celebration of our nation's independence from tyranny, we pledge as your missionaries to work tirelessly to defend and preserve the precious freedom of worship for which our forefathers pledged "their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor."

And we are so grateful to God that we are not alone in this effort. We greatly appreciate the way you stand with us through your friendship, prayers and generous investments in Faith & Liberty. Together, we are making a difference!

And right now, as we engage many God-given opportunities to advance religious freedom, we need you to stand with us again. Please take a moment to make the most generous gift to Faith & Liberty possible.

Your immediate investment will help us continue our vital mission to bring the Word of God to bear on the hearts and minds of public policy makers in America. Thank you and God bless you!

We remain your missionaries to Capitol Hill,

Peggy Nienaber, Vice-President
Mat Staver, Chairman
